Addiction Retreat in Muskoka: July 29-31

Have you tried many forms of addiction treatment, but nothing has worked so far? Then this addiction and recovery retreat in Muskoka July 29-31 may be for you.

From AA’s Big Book to trauma experts like Peter A. Levine, the “psychic change” and “kick” required to let go of your addiction is – in essence – rediscovering your inner authenticity. In other words, addiction arises from being separated from yourself, and thus, finding yourself again is also the solution to your addiction.

Your escape from yourself will then be replaced by a new sense of authentic well-being that comes from yourself. As a new person, you will be able to take on the daily battle against your addiction with renewed vigor and direct insight into what it feels like to be your authentic self.

When you are yourself, you will very clearly feel that being authentic is better than escaping from yourself. Through this experience, you have taken the biggest and most important step on the path out of your addiction, and to a better and healthier life.

The three day retreat will be held at Windermere House at Lake Rosseau in Muskoka, which is a four star hotel and resort with a Spa, outdoor pool and saunas. Finding yourself and letting go of your addiction should not be a punishment, but instead an important inner journey that is taken in a supportive and comfortable environment.

You can learn more about how authenticity can heal addiction here.

Elements of the course includes:

Meditation

Who am I? Self-knowledge is the foundation of authenticity, which is the core of the course, and we will use both sitting and walking meditation. Meditation cultivates mindfulness, which gives you inner wellbeing, strength, and brings you back to your authentic self.

Sauna

The use of sauna and heat produces the same form of mindfulness as meditation. The course places great emphasis on ensuring that all participants see the connection between mindfulness and well-being without substance abuse.

Group Sharing

In the course we also use the traditional form of group sharing, which is used in other forms of addiction treatment. When we share with others, we feel that we are not alone, and there is much to learn from others' experiences with addiction.

Education

The course also uses education to delve into topics such as abuse and childhood trauma, as it is important to understand the context. The purpose of the course is to bring this theoretical understanding to a direct experience of healing.
